COVID-19: 37 arrested for alleged breach of restrictions

A total of 37 people were arrested for alleged breach of COVID-19 restrictions in the last 24 hours.

According to Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho, 19 were juveniles under the age of 18 years.

Commissioner Qiliho  commended the Western and Central Divisions which recorded nil arrests.

The Southern Division recorded 32 cases, 27 arrests were for social gathering breach and five for breach of curfew.

Northern Division recorded three cases of curfew breach.

East recorded one case of curfew breach and one for social gathering breach.

“Majority of the social gathering breach reports involving juveniles were of those playing rugby and sitting around in numbers in public places, and parents and guardians must step up on the monitoring of their children’s activities at all times,” said Commissioner Qiliho.
