Jobless Naulago’s faith kept her going

Former Fiji Airways cabin crew Oriva Naulago believes her faith has kept her strong for almost three years after being forced out of work in May, 2020.

In Lautoka yesterday, with over 100 former crew and staff members, Ms Naulago could not hold back her emotions as she recalled the challenges she went through.

“All I can say is the joy of the Lord is my strength,” she said.

“I’m very emotional because I keep thinking back to those days where we had to struggle and really be tested as a family.

“It’s been very hard. “But I’m grateful for the support of my family and my friends.

“I’ve been looking after my family and staying at home.

“There were times when things got difficult but it’s been a learning journey for me and my family.”

Ms Naulago was one of a number of former cabin crew who spoke to this newspaper on May 25, 2020, hours after more than 750 staff were handed letters of termination from the airline.

“Looking back to that day which was my birthday and to where we are now, I am just thankful to God that He has been able to bring me through that season.

“I’m grateful that I was able to fight alongside my cabin crew family and we were able to fight for the truth.”
