Bid to attract nurses | Aspen Medical offers $5k relocation assistance and flights home

Aspen Medical has launched a recruitment campaign to lure local nurses working overseas back to Fiji and work in the Ba and Lautoka hospitals.

Aspen Medical CEO Gavin Whiteside said the initiative was specifically for Fijian nurses working abroad who wished to return home and join their team.

“We have many vacant nursing roles at present,” he said.

“We offer nurses, a strong sense of being part of a nursing community that will be recognised, supported, and have a voice, the opportunity to build a new nursing culture that focuses on advancing their career in different specialties and the opportunity to do what they do best and still be with their loved ones at home.”

He said apart from paying for their flights back home, Aspen Medical was also offering $5000 to assist the nurses in their relocation.

“We are targeting Fijian nurses abroad who may be contemplating returning home.

“This offer is to assist in their decision-making and give some certainty of employment upon return.”

He added that each applicant would undergo a rigorous vetting process.

“This is not a direct appointment. “Once they have been referred they will go through the screening process before we confirm their appointment.”

According to the Aspen Medical online careers portal, some of the nursing positions that have been advertised by the company include retired nurses to work in a parttime or casual capacity, registered midwives, registered nurses who specialise in emergency, ICU, cardiac and theatre operations.
