Lying on his sick bed at the Ba Hospital, Nukuloa resident Anil Prasad only wished he could be at home with his family.
The 60-year-old was rushed to the Aspenmanaged hospital last Thursday for urgent treatment after coming down with a severe case of diarrhoea.
Speaking to this newspaper via phone call, Mr Prasad said the pain was excruciating.
“They have me on a drip and I have been on bed rest ever since I was admitted,” said Mr Prasad.
“I am worried because a lot of people like me have died from this. “I just want to go home.”
Mr Prasad said he was admitted with patients with similar symptoms.
“We are all in one room. There is about nine or 10 people with me.
“We all have the same thing. Diarrhoea, stomach ache and even some are vomiting.”
He said he was given medication to ease the pain and was being observed by the medical staff.
“They took blood samples and doing some tests, but until now I don’t know what is causing this.
“I’m praying that they find out quickly.”
His wife, Sushila Devi, said she was worried about her husband’s health knowing that some of their neighbours had died from it.
“We keep hearing this person has gone and I keep thinking about what will happen to him,” said Mrs Devi.
