Police investigations into the discovery of 4.8 tonnes of methamphetamine in Nadi earlier this year is far from over.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Crime Mesake Waqa said they would continue to search for those directly or indirectly involved in the transportation of the drug with an estimated street value of $2billion.
“The FPF has already stated that the investigation into the Legalega and Maqalevu drug findings was far from over after the arrest and charges of the accused persons for the allegation of unlawful importation, transportation and possession of it,” Mr Waqa said.
He said they were collaborating with their Australian counterparts in their investigations.
“The FPF is currently working with AFP on the above matter, to ensure that all those directly and indirectly involved to be taken to task according to law.”
Mr Waqa stressed their investigations were not in anyway connected to the arrest of Australian businessman Sam Amine in Australia last Wednesday.
Mr Amine owns businesses in Fiji. The 47-year-old was arrested last week following a raid by New South Wales police.
He was charged with 10 counts of drug related charges including directing the activities of a criminal group, dealing with proceeds of a crime, supplying an unregistered pistol and seven related to commercial drug supply.
His assets worth $10m were also frozen by the Australian Federal Police.
