Wise withdrawn of Japan role

FORMER permanent secretary for Office of the Prime Minister Pita Wise is no longer being considered for the Japanese Ambassadorship role.

Public Service Commission chairman Luke Rokovada confirmed this last night.

“Government has decided to withdraw its consideration of Mr Wise,” he said.

“We are relooking at other people now.”

The announcement by Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka that Mr Wise was being earmarked for Japan was heavily criticised.

Mr Wise had voluntarily resigned from the Prime Minister’s office earlier this month following a complaint lodged against him with Mr Rabuka.

Meanwhile, Mr Rokovada also confirmed Education permanent secretary Selina Kuruleca has been moved to the Ministry of Justice.

He said Ms Kuruleca will officially start as PS Justice next week Monday.

He said she will be replaced by permanent secretary for Youth and Sports Meli Nacuva.
