A ONE-YEAR-OLD company was recognised as the best fisheries exporter in the country at the 2015 Westpac Prime Minister’s Exporter of the Year Award in Nadi over the weekend.
Khanz Holdings Fiji Ltd won the Hangton Pacific Company Ltd Fisheries Exporter of the Year Award for its performance in the past 12 months.
Company managing director Zavir Khan said the company was a direct product of Government policies that encouraged the establishment of locally-based companies that could export local products to international markets.
“We mainly export to Asian countries like Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Thailand and from next year we will be targeting countries like Japan, Australia and New Zealand,” he said.
“Usually in the fisheries industry, we export whole or raw products but our company exports the finished products.
“And we even sell locally and deliver it directly to local villages that are located in Viti Levu.
“There is a lot more we can do and the good thing about this is that we are a very new company and we still have a lot of room for growth. This award means that we can do our best with the little we have and we are only going to get better from here.”
