Update: 12:41PM THE Fiji Sugar Cane Growers Council and the Fiji Sugar Corporation are still assessing the damage caused by last week’s heavy downpours to sugar cane farms across the country.

SCGC chief executive officer Sundresh Chetty said they had still yet to determine the extent of damage to the farms.

“We can’t really tell the extent of damage until we complete the assessments,” Mr Chetty said.

He said the assessments would be completed later this week.
