GUESTS and staff members of Fiji Marriott Resort Momi Bay celebrated the resort’s first ever Christmas Tree lighting with a Christmas Under the Sea themed event on Friday night.
The occasion had the full effect of a festive season with guests treated to Christmas carols, entertainment and Santa Claus handing out candy.
Fiji Marriot Resort Momi Bay general manager Silvano Dressino said they wanted the event to be special as it was the resort’s first.
“We have a beautiful resort that opened in April and we thought to have a Christmas Under the Sea theme because of the beauty of the sea is why so many people come to Fiji and how it is one of the main features of the resort,” he said.
“It’s also a reminder to protect the sea and preserve it because of its importance not only to tourism but also to the local communities. We also wanted to create awareness on climate change and how it has been a very important topic for Fiji this year.
“I am very pleased with the outcome and with the team for doing such an amazing job in decorating the resort and for putting together this event not only for our guests but also for the members of our neighbouring community.
“The people of this region have been very important to our development and we wanted them to be part of this celebration.”
