THE help of the German government has been sorted to inspect Fiji’s waterways and watershed systems.

In his 2018-2019 National Budget address, Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum said this was part of Government’s new program to develop our waterways.

“We want to bring in experts from the German Government to have a hard look at how we are managing our watershed systems and our irrigation,” he said.

“This year, the German Development Corporation will send a technical assistance team to Fiji with a mission to identify suitable climate adaptation programs particularly in the water sector.”

He said their recommendations would also provide opportunities for the globalisation of climate finance into Fiji.
