NADI bus company Dominion Transport Ltd will resume its operations on Monday in time for the start of the new school year.
Company owner Satya Nand said they received a financial boost from HFC Bank and help from the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission late Thursday afternoon.
“All of our operations will return to normal and our buses will service all of our rural routes come Monday,” he said.
“This was my main aim throughout the week, to try and get the business back before the school year started.
“The routes that we cover are very rural from Batiri to Momi and all rural roads between these places and Nadi Town.
So when we were facing a complete shutdown, I knew a lot of people would be affected.” He said their main concern were licensed carrier drivers who were poaching their passengers.
“My only plea is to RSL drivers to please service the routes they have been assigned to. When they drive along our roads, they are taking away our business.
“These RSL drivers only run once or twice a day when the bus has a schedule that our passengers know about. When the bus does not come, they will have to fork out more to pay for a hired vehicle.
“I hope and pray that we can work together to provide this important service.”
Earlier this month, Mr Nand made a public declaration that the company would be closing down if things did not improve.
