WORK on the new Velovelo bridge is expected to be completed by July this year.

Fiji Roads Authority acting CEO Kamal Prasad said the new bridge was part of the authority’s road improvement plan from Lautoka to Nadi.

He said the road improvement plan was for a variety of reasons including the safety of all road users.

“To improve road safety for all users, improve reliability and journey times for corridor users, improve the existing environment through villages or urban areas and to facilitate and enable planned growth and development on the corridor,” he said.

“Road widening, bridge replacements, intersection improvements, gateway improvements and speed management. The duration yet to be confirmed as plan is currently in design phase.

“The new Velovelo bridge construction is in progress and is expected to be completed by July 2021.”
