Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort has maintained it will remain committed to assisting Government in the fight against the present COVID-19 outbreak.

Resort general manager Darren Shaw said the resort was approached by the Ministry of Health to assist in providing quarantine facilities; however, that decision has been put on hold.

As it awaits further instructions from the Government, Mr Shaw said the resort was fully compliant with COVID-19 safe restrictions and has implemented measures that would ensure the safety of staff members and guests.

“Outrigger has always taken our responsibility to the community seriously and we were compelled to support the Fiji Government’s effort to contain this outbreak,” a statement from the resort said.

“Once the COVID-19 outbreak is under control, Outrigger Fiji Beach Resort will return to hotel operations after full and comprehensive professional sanitisation of our facilities in accordance with WHO guidelines.

“Our care is towards, host (staff), community and quarantined guest, comprises; Outrigger hosts, quarantined guests and government officials.

“All hosts participating in the quarantine facility are doing so voluntarily, at any one time a maximum of six staff members will be working in the quarantine zone, all staff is fully vaccinated.

“No hosts will enter an isolated room until the guest has completely vacated and preventative sanitisation measures undertaken by the Ministry of Health.”

The resort explained that for quarantined guests, strict measures have been implemented, including the installation of CCTV cameras and a designated isolation block for each guest who would not be issued with room keys.
