Tui Vuda Ratu Eparama Tavaiqia has called on the vanua o Vuda to get vaccinated as cases continue to increase in Viseisei and Lautoka City.

The 91-year-old was among the first to line up at the Ministry of Health and Medical Services’ vaccination drive for Vuda villagers and nearby settlements.

Patiliseva Namuaira said the Tui Vuda had been at the forefront of the vanua o Vuda’s fight against the pandemic, cordoning Viseisei Village off from visitors and non-residents.

“Villagers were directed to limited travel only and leave the village for essential reasons only,” she said.

“He encouraged all other elderly and villagers alike that although it is a personal choice to get vaccinated, he emphasised that we are living in unprecedented times and we need to get vaccinated to survive this pandemic.”
