Jab is key component to tourism marketing strategy – Hill

Vaccination will be a key component to Tourism Fiji’s marketing strategy to international visitors.

Tourism Fiji CEO Brent Hill said part of their selling point would be Fiji’s wider population being fully vaccinated when borders reopened.

“Vaccination is the key to reopening Fiji and it is just so encouraging to see the rates where they are,” Mr Hill said.

“Every vaccination is getting us closer to reopening so it is just so encouraging to see the vaccination progress.

“From Tourism Fiji’s perspective, this effort by the Fijian population now gives us the impetus to show the world that vaccinated travellers will again be able to travel to Fiji.

“They will be safe and that both tourists and the local population are protected.

“This safety element and the process we’re working on to allow safe travel to and from Fiji will be a part of our communications, especially to the tourism trade and industry.”

According to the Ministry of Health and Medical Services, as of August 8, a total of 512,282 adults had received their first doses of the vaccine and 178,606 had received their second doses.
