Police are investigating the death of a Ba man who allegedly died during a work mishap last week.

The 23-year-old was allegedly crushed by an excavator driven by a 41-year-old man.

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the tragic incident occurred on November 5 (2021).

She said the 41-year-old digger operator from Tauvegavega, Ba, was reversing the heavy machine when he allegedly ran over the victim.

Ms Naisoro said the 23-year-old labourer of Vatulailai settlement was conveyed to the Ba Mission Hospital but pronounced dead on arrival.

Investigations into the alleged incident continue.

Meanwhile, police are also investigating the alleged assault of a worker by a Ba man.

According to police, the 34-year-old was struck with a cane knife by a Veisaru resident while carrying out his work at the area.

Investigations continue into the alleged attack.
