A foreign investor is looking at locations in the Yasawa group to build a six-star hotel.

This was revealed in Parliament on Wednesday by Economy Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, who highlighted the Government’s efforts to provide employment for Fijians.

“We currently are talking to a particular company, just looking and providing what we call 1500 seats, which means 4500 jobs because 1500 seats are one shift and they do three shifts,” he said.

“So, these, again, are the new works that we are currently doing.

“There is actually a six-star hotel that is currently looking at a location in Yasawa.

“They want to start the investments and we have provided a number of incentives in that space, and obviously these things do not happen overnight.”
