Vosarogo: Fiji was in need of new leadership

Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources Filimoni Vosarogo says Fiji was in need of new leadership for a very long time.

While speaking to Ministry of Lands and Mineral Resources staff in Lautoka recently, he said Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka has shown what true leadership entailed through his actions.

“He had the heart to increase the allocation for the Leader of the Opposition to get more than he was getting when he was the leader of the opposition,” he said.

“That to me speaks to the clarity of his heart. When the leader of Government has that compassion, there’s no reason why we shouldn’t have compassion whilst serving our people.

“We are called to serve in an unbiased manner. We should have the heart to serve everyone fairly without prejudice.

“You are the heartbeat of government and how you serve our people reflects our leadership.”

He said he has had to make his own sacrifices while taking up the call from the newly-elected PM.

“I personally felt in my heart that it was critical that we make a stand. Not to be vindictive but Fiji needed fresh leadership and change.

“And the winds of fortune were with us. It’s a new year, we have a new Fiji to build.”
