2022 General Election: Poll thrills, spills – Final results by 6am Sunday

By 6am tomorrow, Fiji will know who will form government and which party will lead our nation for the next four years.

The 2022 General Election has certainly been a roller coaster ride filled with thrills and spills that included a “glitch” on the first day of the counting of votes.

The halt in the counting of votes riled many and also saw Opposition political parties writing to the President, Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) and the Supervisor of Elections expressing their dissatisfaction with the counting process.

Commander RFMF Major General Ro Jone Kalouniwai has informed the politicians the army will not be drawn into the issue.

Yesterday, Opposition political party leaders maintained a recount should be conducted despite the Electoral Commission saying the anomaly in the Fijian Elections Office results app had been rectified.

The Opposition leaders and many Fijians on social media said they understood counting was done manually, they only had issues with the tallied results being input into the results management system and the results being released on the app.
