The Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC) Commissioner Barbara Malimali, has confirmed meeting with the Commission of Inquiry over allegations of abuse of office levelled against her.

Speaking on the matter, Ms Malimali acknowledged the ongoing investigation and the controversy surrounding her appointment.

“The Commission of Inquiry is ongoing,” she said.

“It’s no secret that my appointment was opposed by some, and allegations of abuse of office were made against me.”

Ms Malimali clarified that the investigation is being handled by the Fiji Police Force, not FICAC.

“To respect the process, all I can say is that the Commission of Inquiry has commenced, and yes, I have attended a meet-and-greet session with the commissioner.”
