The vanua o’ Nabukebuke led by the Tui Namosi Ratu Suliano Matanitobua, paid a courtesy visit to the President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, at the State House this week.
The visit was a gesture of solidarity and support to the Head of State, reaffirming the deep-rooted ties between the vanua and the nation’s leadership.
Ratu Naiqama expressed his gratitude for the visit, acknowledging its significance as a historical occasion.
“I sincerely thank the Vanua of Namosi for this noble gesture,” he said.
“Your presence is a testament to the unity and respect that form the foundation of our nation.”
He further highlighted the importance of traditional support and its role in preserving Fiji’s rich cultural heritage.
“The vanua has always played a crucial role in upholding our values and traditions. It is through such engagements that we strengthen our national identity and move forward together.”
As part of the traditional welcome, the Vanua of Namosi presented a sevusevu and wase ni yaqona, a symbol of respect and allegiance.
Speaking on behalf of the Tui Namosi, the traditional herald emphasised the significance of the visit.
“We had planned this visit to formally present our support and well wishes to our Head of State,” he said.
“This tabua is a token of our respect and commitment to our shared vision for Fiji’s future.”
The visit underscored the enduring relationship between traditional leadership and the government, reinforcing the values of loyalty, respect, and national unity.
