Maintenance work is expected to be conducted soon at the Saqani Jetty in Cakaudrove.

Minister for Rural and Maritime Development Sakiasi Ditoka said a team would be sent to Saqani to conduct scope work.

“This is one of the things that we discussed with the Commissioner Northern Usaia Rainima,” he said.

In an interview, Mr Ditoka said a team from the commissioner’s office will be visiting the village in the next few weeks.

“I think it’s one of the work we will do next,” he said.

He said there was a need to conduct maintenance work on the jetty, as it was used by fishermen and sometimes by roll on and off vessels.

“The jetty is already there, it is only right for us to maintain it.”
