A 14-year-old boy appeared in the Labasa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly raping a preschooler.

The minor is alleged to have raped a five-year-old girl on February 2.

The court sitting was closed to the media, however, according to the police, the 14-year-old has been charged with a count of rape.

He appeared before Magistrate Safaira Ratu and was represented by a Legal Aid Commission lawyer.

He was bailed in the sum of $500. Under his bail conditions, he is to relocate from his current residence and not change schools.
