Acting DPP awaits Pryde’s decision

ACTING Director of Public Prosecutions Nancy Tikoisuva says she will await DPP Christopher Pryde for word on her future with the Office of the DPP.

Ms Tikoisuva said the decision would be left to Mr Pryde as he resumes office on Monday.

“My substantive appointment as the Director of Public Prosecutions remains here, but again, as when Mr Pryde comes in then we will get directions from him as to what happens,” she said.

She said she respected the decision of the tribunal and President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu.

“I was appointed by the President and only he will revoke my appointment.”

As for the Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions John Rabuku, she said his post would not be affected with the reinstatement of Mr Pryde.

“As far as we are concerned, these substantive posts are not affected at all. Again, these are matters that are internal and as far as we are concerned, up to today, all substandard positions within the office remain.

“I will get an update from the Office of the President.”

She has been in the acting position since July last year following the revocation of Mr Rabuku’s appointment when the Supreme Court ruled him ineligible for the role.
