Rehabilitation program has started in Vanua Levu for thos affected by TC Rae.
Minister for Disaster Management Sakiasi Ditoka who is in Vanua Levu to visit affected areas said the ministry had started mobilising resources for the rehabilitation process.
“We have a stock of seeds and planting materials ready for distribution, particularly in the Eastern and Northern divisions,” he said.
He said dry seeds were available at all agriculture stations.
“Seedlings for eggplant, tomato, and bongo chili will be available, with seedling trays expected to be ready by next week.”
He met with Commissioner Northern Uraia Rainima this morning where he was updated about current developments caused by TC Rae.
However, the wet conditions caused by the cyclone have delayed land preparation for new crops.
“The wet weather will affect the timely establishment of crops, but we are working hard to ensure that rehabilitation efforts can begin as soon as possible.”
He is in the Northern Division for two days tour.
