The Indira Gandhi Memorial Primary School (IGPS) under-14 girls’ team defeated Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Primary School 2-1 in the final of the Suva Inter Primary School soccer competition at the HFC Bank Stadium yesterday.

The school’s head teacher, Ashween Raj, said the tournament was well organised with the inclusion of the girls’ competition this year.

“We are a very small school with only 350 students and our girls did a wonderful job, they managed to get the win for our school,” he said.

“Our team had very good preparation for the tournament. I thank all the parents and teachers for their support and hope we can have this tournament often to help our youngsters learn the sport well.”
