Team Rover booked a spot in the final of the NewWorld IGA Suva Netball premier competition after defeating a strong Ablaze Heart 18-14 at the National Netball Centre in Suva yesterday.
They will now face Tiki Vai in the final next week Saturday. Team captain Adi Mere Derenalagi saluted her teammates for putting up a brave performance against Ablaze Heart.
“The preparation was really hard cause some of the players are school students and we have to balance our schedules,” she said.
“We only have two days of training in a week, but despite that the girls did very well and were able to get the job done.”
During prep talk, Derenalagi said she told her players to concentrate on their defence.
“Our game plan in the match was to concentrate on our defence which was really good and the attacks also played their role well.
“In the final, we have to work more on our fitness and we will go hard on the Tiki Vai team in the final.”
Despite the win, Derenalagi said there were a few areas her side needed to work on as they prepare to take on Tiki Vai.
“Few things we faced in the match is our lack of communication and we will be working on it before the final. The team is going to really give it all in the finals and hope to get the win.”
