Viliame Naikausa, a 23-year-old from Yalobi Village in Yasawa, is set to make his debut for Fiji in the Vancouver 7s next weekend.

The former Cuvu College student says this is an opportunity of a lifetime and he will make sure it will not go to waste.

“I’d like to take this time to thank the Almighty God for guiding me and my life in sports, I also thank the coaching staff and the Fiji team management for picking me,” Naikausa said.

“This opportunity is a privilege and a great honour to represent my country and I am looking forward to give my best if I get the chance to go on the field.”

Naikausa featured for Ravuka Sharks at the recent Coral Coast 7s in Sigatoka and further impressed the national coaching panel during the team’s training sessions.

He is looking forward to making his debut next weekend and vows to do his best on the field.

The Fiji Men’s 7s side left for Vancouver today to start their preparations early for the tournament which kicks off next Friday.

Fiji is in pool A alongside Argentina, Spain and Canada.

Fiji takes on Spain at 11.20am on Friday in their first match, they will then play Canada at 4.44pm on the same day before taking on Argentina at 10.33am on Saturday in their last pool.
