The Avengers Volleyball team showcased their skills and determination at the Suva Mini Tournament held at the Multi-Purpose Court in Laucala yesterday.

Led by team captain Iliesa Naceba, the boys, who hail from different parts of Suva, formed the team in 2019 and have been competing for the past four years.

Comprised mainly of University of the South Pacific students along with a few older players, the team trains diligently almost every afternoon without any external funding or sponsors.

“Our training is every afternoon after school and work, our team also is self-funded we are looking for sponsors,” said Naceba.

“All the boys of the team had been chosen to represent Suva Volleyball in the upcoming HBK Vulaca Championship in February which is a big achievement for the boys as the sport has been our way of steering clear of negative influences and contributing financially to our families,” he added.
