Team Fiji swimmer Anahira McCutcheon, ended her Paris Olympic campaign, finishing 5th in heat six of the women’s 50m freestyle event.

Among 79 competitors vying for a spot in the top 16 and a chance to progress to the semi-finals, the 14-year-old clocked a time of 26.88 seconds.

While McCutcheon felt she could have performed better, she acknowledged being hindered by nervousness during her race.

She expressed disappointment with her performance but remains hopeful about her future competitions, aiming to achieve a personal best time.

“My race was not great, I’m not very happy with it but hopefully I’ll be able to build up and at the next competition I will be able to get a personal best,” said McCutcheon.

The young swimmer found the competition challenging, especially competing against some of the world’s top swimmers.

“It was really challenging for me facing some of the best swimmers in the world, and I did my best, not really the results I wanted but I will surely learn and come back stronger in the next Olympics.

McCutcheon’s experience in the Paris Olympics serves as a valuable learning opportunity, and she is committed to using it as motivation to push herself further and perform better in upcoming events.
