EXCITEMENT fills the air as the Fiji Football Association gears up for the inaugural McDonald’s Talent Development IDC, which kicks off today at the Nasinu Muslim Primary School Grounds in Nakasi.

This groundbreaking event aims to shine a spotlight on young football talent from across Fiji, with an impressive turnout of over 450 players, both boys and girls, expected to participate.

Players will compete in four different age categories – under-9, U-11, U-13, and U-15, providing a platform for young talents to exhibit their skills and represent their districts.

Sunil Kumar, the Head of Talent Development at Fiji FA, expressed his enthusiasm for the event, highlighting its importance in nurturing grassroots football talent in the country.

“This event is a major milestone for Fiji football, offering young players a valuable opportunity to showcase their abilities,” said Sunil.

“It is the first time we are bringing together players from nine districts to compete at this level, and we are excited to see the level of performance they will demonstrate against each other.”

Kumar also acknowledged the support of the government.

The competition is set to kick off today and will culminate on Sunday.
