Swire Shipping Fijian Drua’s chief executive officer, Mark Evans has expressed excitement about the upcoming 2025 Shop N Save Super Rugby season, describing it as the most attractive fixture they have had in four years.

The team is set to host seven prominent rugby teams, with the first match against the Brumbies taking place on their home turf for the first time.

Evans highlighted the appeal of the home schedule, particularly noting that the Brumbies have never played a competitive game in Fiji, making it a special occasion.

He also mentioned reigning champions, the Blues, and the perennially strong Crusaders, both of whom will be facing off against the Fijian Drua in Suva.

The upcoming match against the Chiefs is also noted as a significant event. The Highlanders have yet to visit Fiji.

Evans emphasised the preference for a 4-3 split in home games between Suva and Lautoka, a balance that was not ideal in the previous season due to stadium upgrades.

“I do not know what we’ve done to upset the Highlanders, but they never seem to come,” said Evans.

“And then, obviously, the Aussie teams, they all come every year now, so that is good, because it is changed the way with only four teams.

“So, yes, the 4-3 split is what we would always like, always like to split in 4-3, Suva, Lautoka, either way round.

“Last year was just impossible because of a variety of things surrounding the upgrades at the stadium in Suva meant we only did 2-5, and 2-5 does not suit us from a commercial point of view.”

The CEO highlighted the success of a night game in the previous season, which was sold out and featured a doubleheader.

He expressed hope that the upcoming night game against the Blues would be similarly successful, given the match’s appeal.

Evans believes the upcoming season’s fixture list is the most appealing in four years, and is urging fans to show their support by attending the matches.
