Excitement is building for young primary school rugby players as the Vodafone Kaji Rugby competition was launched yesterday at the Vodafone Headquarters in Tamavua yesterday, marking its return after a five-year hiatus.
President of the Primary School Rugby Union, Sakiusa Turagabeci, expressed that the launch of the tournament is not just about competition, but about sowing the seeds of dreams, passion, and the future success of the nation’s youth.
He emphasized the importance of partnerships with Vodafone, which not only provide a platform for competition but also serve as vital guidance for rugby development at the grassroots level.
Turagabeci announced that approximately 3000 students from 16 unions across Fiji will be participating in the competition, showcasing the widespread interest and engagement in the sport at the primary school level.
Vodafone’s regional chief marketing officer, Rajnesh Prasad, expressed his delight in being a part of the return of the Kaji Rugby competition, highlighting its significance for the future of rugby in Fiji.
“The Vodafone Kaji Rugby holds a special place in our hearts as it is about our kids and the future of rugby in Fiji,” said Prasad.
“The development of grassroot rugby is crucial, especially as this level as it helps develop the game.
The competition will be held at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva from October 29-30.
