Focus on defence

The Aflame Brothers under-21 rugby team is currently focusing on their defensive strategies and set pieces as they gear up for the Fiji Bitter Tabadamu 7s competition set to kick off tomorrow at Thomson Park in Navua.

Their recent victory at the Fiji Bitter Nahehevia 7s competition, where they defeated Village Boys 14-5 in the under-21 final, has boosted their confidence.

Team manager Emmanuel Fumanu mentioned that despite facing some challenges like injuries, the team’s preparation is on track.

“We still have areas to improve on, particularly our defence and set pieces. We are working on getting the combinations right with the new players coming in to cover for the injured ones,” Fumanu stated.

“Our team’s main goal is to build on our performance from the previous tournament and maintain consistency throughout the series.”

They are also aiming to defend their titles at the Nawaka 7s for the third consecutive year and the Marist 7s as well.

“With the Fiji Bitter series coming to an end our main goal is to complete the series on a high note and at the same time to defend the Nawaka 7s for the 3rd year in a row and the Marist 7s title as well.

We are inviting all our fans out there to come out in numbers and support the boys (U21 & Men’s) this weekend.

With 32 men’s teams, 16 under-21 teams, and five women’s teams participating in the upcoming competition.

The competition will run from tomorrow until Saturday, providing an opportunity for the teams to showcase their talent and determination on the field.
