Tailevu Naitasiri too strong for Lami U16

TAILEVU Naitasiri’s under-16 football team proven strong in the Youth League round one competition, emerging victorious with a 3-0 win over Lami at the Fiji FA grounds in Vatuwaqa yesterday.

The team initially struggled to convert opportunities in the first half but managed to secure a 1-0 lead before halftime.

In the second half, their determined performance paid off as they capitalised on Lami’s defensive weaknesses to score two additional goals and seal the victory.

Coach Atilesh Ram praised the team for their efforts on the field, acknowledging that while they missed several goal-scoring chances, their overall performance was commendable.

“The boys prepared well for this match, we have a group of young boys, most of them are in primary school, so with this exposer and level of game, I believe they will be great players in the future,” said Ram.

He emphasised the importance of improving their finishing and defensive capabilities moving forward to enhance their overall gameplay.

“Lami was a great side they need to regroup and focus on their upcoming match, but for our team it’s a celebration for now then a long week of preparations ahead of our next match.”

Despite the challenges, Ram expressed confidence in the young players’ potential to develop into strong athletes with more experience and exposure to higher levels of competition.

Ram acknowledged the boys’ dedication and passion for the sport, commending their commitment despite various commitments outside of football.

He expressed gratitude to the players for their hard work and dedication, emphasizing the importance of teamwork and continuous improvement in achieving success on the field.
