Strong winds detached roofing iron from stalls at Hibiscus Festival

Stall operators at the Hibiscus carnival escaped injuries as strong winds ripped off roofing iron from a few stalls this morning.

Some operators shared in social media their relief and frustrations as they questioned the safety of their stalls considering the high fees they paid.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Nearby stall owners alleged that the roof was blown off due to inadequate securing of the roofing iron.

Employees from the contracted company are currently working to repair the damage.

At noon today, float processions will mark the conclusion of the Hibiscus Festival, which is taking place at the Suva Foreshore.
