Carjacking suspect escorted to Lautoka

Update: 10:54AM A SUSPECT in a carjacking case in Lautoka earlier this week was escorted to police there after charges for other aggravated robbery cases in Nakasi.

Police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro said the fourth suspect was now in the custody of Lautoka police.

“The 19-year-old was escorted to Lautoka after charges of other aggravated robbery cases in Nakasi,” she said.

On Thursday, a man appeared in the Lautoka Magistrates Court for his alleged involvement in the carjacking at Kashmir.

Yesterday, police said they had made four more arrests in connection with the incident.

Two of the suspects were arrested in Suva, one in Sigatoka and the fourth suspect was arrested in Nakasi.

Police are continuing investigations into the carjacking, which was recorded by CCTV cameras outside a shop in Kashmir.

The video, which also showed an infant being taken out of the vehicle and put on the roadside by those involved in the incident, went viral on social media.

Commissioner of Police Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho has assured the public that those carrying out these cowardly acts will be apprehended.
