Green bank extends campaign

EXPANDING their Go Green campaign to the Mamanuca Group, Bank of South Pacific representatives partnered with the Mamanuca Environment Society (MES) in a clean-up campaign at Malolo District School last week.

The project is in support of the MES’s ridge to reef initiative launched in April and designed to help children understand the importance of protecting their forests and how its destruction could have adverse effects on coral reefs.

MES project officer Jacqueline Nalomaca said the idea was to nurture young children to help conserve their environment.

“We are trying to help them understand that at a young age that these two are co-dependent,” she said.

“Whatever we do with our forests will affect our reefs and if we make positive decisions than the outcome will be positive.”

BSP Fiji general manager human resources Howard Politini said they were in favour of the initiative because it helped promote the conservation of nature in line with their campaign.

“We have come here (Malolo District School) because we support the protection of our environment,” he said.
