I am of the opinion that pictures of flooded towns, roads, parks, homes, rivers farm lands and much more will be a common sight on Facebook.

With all the talk that surrounds climate change I sincerely hope that the talks will be good enough to hold back the rising waters.

Blocked drains hide in long grass.

Developments, especially business and people who can afford it raise their land higher than the last high water mark and thus those who live on the lower parts will get flooded.

Culverts are forgotten when people build their homes and rain water can’t find a way out.

Good old civil engineering is forgotten and thus we have floods.

Mangrove is removed to make way for hotels — how about building the hotels around mangrove.

Have atrium houses — build around the trees — don’t cut them.

Allow for natural waterways to flow, don’t divert them.

Our engineers and architects have to be creative.

In the cities and towns trees make way for buildings.

No doubt modernisation and development will mean the cutting down of trees and natural waterways will be diverted.

I pray that it will happen soon.

I hope nature will take precedence over money.
