MSAF joins campaign

CORPORATE bodies in Fiji continue to support the Pinktober campaign to help raise funds and assistance for breast cancer awareness.

Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji CEO John Tunidau said the organisation and its staff and stakeholders were honoured to be able to contribute to the work of the Fiji Cancer Society.

“We at MSAF believe there is always hope of managing or eradicating such diseases and caring for those affected by cancer in any way possible is an essential part of our community outreach program,” Mr Tunidau said.

“There are many reasons for cancerous cells to form, which may include our dietary habits, excessive intake of alcohol, smoking and sadly hereditary, and we manage this through family, friends, cancer survivor’s experiences and expert medical advice.

“This is where MSAF is coming from … to provide support to the community, especially to those affected by cancer who have gone through a lot of pain in the process.”

Mr Tunidau said MSAF believed in attending to a matter immediately and the same approach could be emphasised for breast cancer diagnosis and treatment.

“Any person diagnosed with cancer faces a lot of challenges, sometimes life threatening,” he said.

“It is the role of the community and any organisation to provide effective support to those who are in need of our support.

“One can imagine what life after cancer is and the hardships that come with it.

“For those in our society that are not so fortunate, it is not the end of the world because there is always light at the end of the tunnel and it is through individual and collective efforts that we will ensure that we make a significant difference to peoples’ lives.”
