Man lives in fear

A LAUTOKA man is living in fear after his home was broken into with perpetrators walking away with three laptops, a phone and an ipad.

The items have a collective worth of more than $5000.

The victim, Rajneel Singh, said he believed the robbery was linked to a series of death threats made against him and his family.

“My wife no longer wants to live with me, she wants to leave and told me she no longer feels safe living in our home,” he said.

“Two months back she left early in the morning to go to the shop and someone had thrown a stone at her.”

Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro confirmed a complaint had been lodged at the Lautoka Police Station in regards to the robbery.

“We have received a complaint and investigations continue,” she said.

Mr Singh believes Friday’s events stem from what transpired last year, when he was allegedly beaten and tortured because of information he gave to police about plans of a supposed overthrow of government.

In November last year, Singh was admitted to Lautoka Hospital under military guard, recovering from injuries he allegedly suffered after being beaten up and tortured in a house in Ba and left for dead in the interior of Sigatoka by masked men, he claims were police officers.
