I totally agree that there should be more women participation in politics leading up to our 2018 National Election and the Asia Pacific Parliamentarian’s Forum guest speaker honourableVuniwaqa had rightly highlighted that in her speech in terms of gender equality participation.

I do personally believe that politics must not be about more women than men or the opposite. It should be about a voluntary decision one will have to make, but not forced upon.

I believe a solution would be for unmarried single women, lesbians, divorcees, single aunties and grandmothers who will have all the time to take up the fight and prove they can make a change and do a better job than the men who can qualify themselves.

From the many who attended the APPF women’s forum at Natadola’s InterContinental Resort at the weekend, they should acknowledge and take note of the very important fact that it was the political will of our PM and his FijiFirst party that has allowed more women participation in our Parliament today and vinaka vakalevu to our 2013 Fijian Constitution.

It’s a platform with its compliance in setting the standards. Realistically I am all for more women participation, but they must manage and balance their home front, they have proven it. There are many classic examples of very successful women in our Fijian Parliament today than ever before.

It starts with our 71-year-old ever green parliamentary Speaker Dr. Jiko Luveni who is a professional, a politician, a mother, a grandmother who now loves and enjoys her new hobby in refereeing all those who have qualified themselves to be members of our august house.
