When I was growing up as a child, I remember whenever there was a death in the family, the message wasn’t relayed to close relatives by just anybody.
The message wasn’t even passed on via the telephone, or any other means.
No member of the family was allowed to relay the message; it was a chosen person who would do so. And this was done by going to the family in person and relaying the message.
Protocol was strictly adhered to.
In today’s world one can be reminded by friends to check their Facebook page to read the death message.
It has even been passed on via phone text and also via phone calls.
The personal touch has been lost together with protocol.
Sadly if you don’t have data and no Facebook, you could miss out on the message or get to know about it in the bus stand, or at a grog session.
Anyway, I’m just talking about changing times.
