A determined English outfit broke the Blitzbokke’s winning streak in the HSBC Rugby Sevens World Series in Canada.
England took out the gold medal and trophy after defeating the mighty South Africans in the final of the HSBC Canada 7s at BC Place Stadium, Vancouver.
It was a battle between two of the outstanding teams in the series. The Blitzbokke tried very hard breaking the defence but the opponents were too good on the day.
Three tries to one and the Englishmen finished on the top at the Vancouver 7s. Many were expecting a Fiji-South Africa final showdown in Canada but that did not happen.
Fiji went down to England in the semi-final and settled for the bronze.
Even after losing the Canada 7s, South Africa still lead the points table handsomely. No doubt the series is becoming more and more interesting as it progresses.
There is a little break before the tournament resumes again. Let us keep our hopes alive for the Fijians to bounce back come the next games.
