At one stage I thought I was the only one facing the effects of this rapid rise in our cost of living. But I can see more people opening up and asking for a change. It’s not the second or third person I talked to but nearly every one complained and had similar views on the present cost of living.

The trend I have seen in many countries is that during the election year changes do come about.

Each day brings us closer to the next general election and I believe each day also gets us closer to the final “budget session” before the election.

I believe some “goodies” should be around the corner and I predict that VAT will be removed from at least 15 basic items.

I also guess that minimum basic wage will be raised from $2.32 to about $3.50 or $4 per hour.

I hope and sincerely pray to Almighty God for this vital change for the sake of our poor community.
