The 2017 Fiji Secondary School Athletics Finals officials will uphold the competition rules that are in place during the three days events.
Competition
The Championships will run according to the rules of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and the Fiji Secondary Schools Athletics Association (FSSAA). If any local rules are to apply to the championships will be interpreted strictly.
Entries
Any athlete may participate in maximum of two individual events and one relay, however an athlete participating in relays may only participate in two relays.
No entries will be accepted at the technical meeting except in cases where an athlete has been missed out by the organising committee.
Simultaneous entries
If a competitor is entered in either track and field events, or more than one field event taken simultaneously, the referee may for one round at a time allow the competitor to take trials in an order different from that decided upon by the draw prior to the start of the competition.
Uniforms
All competitors are to wear their registered school uniforms during the competition including the victory ceremony.
Any clothing worn by competitors, front and back must of the requirements IAAF Rule 138 and 143.
Call room procedures
All athletes are required to report to call room 1 before they will be escorted to call room 2 that is beside the technical information centre (TIC).
All athletes must enter call room 2 with Bib numbers already pinned on to their uniforms. These numbers must not be cut, folded or obscured in any way.
Athletes will proceed to the start of their event from call room 2 accompanied by officials. Athletes who proceed direct to the event site not having gone through call room and not accompanied by an official may not be allowed to compete.
There will be only one call time. The times at which athletes should report to the call room prior to scheduled start time of their events are:
Event, call room, event site
Discus, javelin: 35 minutes, 25 minutes
Long jump, triple jump, shot put: 25 minutes, 20 minutes
Relays: 15 minutes, 10 minutes
Other track events:10 minutes, 5 minutes
This time allows for call room procedures and movement to the competition site. The remainder of the time may be used to complete the warm-up at the competition site, if it is not used for another event.
Protest
Protest must be lodged initially with the referee as per IAAF rule 146.
Appeals to the jury are to be made in writing on the appropriate Appeal form which are available from the Technical Information Centre (TIC) and lodged with a $30 fee.
Appeals can be made by either the athlete or team manager and should be lodged in the TIC.
