LELEAN Memorial School defeated Ratu Navula College 20- 14 in the Coke Zero Deans under-16 quarter-final at the ANZ Stadium.
The boys from Davuilevu dedicated their win to their under-18 team which lost out in the Eastern Zone competition.
Coach Viliame Gucake said what boosted the team’s morale was their under-18 side which couldn’t make it to the national quarter-finals.
“Not having our senior team playing motivated us to work hard and prove ourselves to supporters,” Gucake said.
“But our main focus is to try and improve on our discipline and we have a lot of injured players so we’re resting them and as for our preparation it’s going to move up come next week on Monday as we prepare for the semi-finals.
“We thank the school, former students and parents for supporting the team.”
Gucake said with the semi-finals against MBHS they couldn’t afford to give away penalties because all games are crucial.
RKS coach Keasi Soronaivalu said Nasinu gave them a good game but they were expecting a tougher game next week.
‘Discipline is one of the areas that we will work on and our defence and also our finishing attack.
