THE quality of rugby especially in secondary school level has really improved and is great to watch.

Former All Blacks and QVS old boy, Joeli Vidiri made this statement after watching the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union (FSSRU) Coke Zero Deans under-14 and U15 grade finals at the ANZ Stadium in Laucala Bay, Suva yesterday.

Vidiri, who also played in the Coke Zero Deans for Queen Victoria School, was amazed with the amount of potential talent on display at the stadium.

“The quality of rugby has really improved from when I was playing compared with now. There has been a lot of improvement and the quality of rugby has changed a lot. And it is very good to watch,” Vidiri said.

He said there was an abundance of talent at the Coke Zero Deans competition.

“I am so impressed with the skills level and that’s why some rugby scouts are here.

He said playing in the Deans competition was every student’s dream especially if they attended QVS, Ratu Kadavulevu and Lelean Memorial School (LMS).

“The atmosphere is different when you play in the Deans competition and Test rugby but the Deans competition atmosphere is always great.

Vidiri featured for QVS during the 1991 and 1992 Coke Zero Deans under-19 teams.
