A FIJIAN woman residing in Australia tried to get approval from four Ra chiefs in October 2014 for the formation of a government called the Ra Sovereign Christian State, the High Court in Lautoka heard yesterday.

This, according to statements made by State witnesses Waisake Naqila and Ratu Apenisa Loki on the first day of the trial of 16 people charged with sedition.

Mr Naqila, who is an assistant roko, told the court that on October 28 he was invited by then Tu Navitilevu Ratu Meli Bolobolo to attend the Rakiraki District meeting at Rakiraki Village.
