Miller crushes 1m tonnes

THE Fiji Sugar Corporation yesterday marked a milestone crushing one million tonnes of sugar cane for the 2017 season.

FSC chief executive officer Graham Clark said this put the corporation ahead by about 20 per cent compared with the same time last year.

“We have made 27 per cent more sugar than this time last year. Mr Clark said.

“We are very confident we can restore Fiji to what it has been in the past.”

He added the achievement would not have been possible if not for the assistance of the EU, Australian Aid and through the efforts of the Australian Pacific Technical College for training both staff members and canefarmers.

“Whilst everything is not green there has been a very meaningful contribution from everyone involved to try and resurrect the fortunes of Fiji sugar.”
