SUVA Eagles women’s team will have to sharpen up their defence when they take on Nadi next week in the last round of the Vodafone Zone Women’s championship.

Suva thrashed Ra Roosters 62-0 in the women’s grade at Ratu Cakobau Park on Saturday.

Suva scored eight tries in the first half to lead 44-0 and in the second half they scored four tries to seal the deal.

Coach Ema Vereivalu said the girls made a great effort as they stuck to their game plan.

“Our forwards had a good run in the field and executed our game plan well,” Vereivalu said.

“We really worked on our defence system the whole week and the girls have dedicated themselves to putting their bodies on line and our defence wasn’t tested that much.

“We need to keep consistent especially preparations on next week and we know that we are going to have a very physical game against Nadi.”

The team were made up of Telecom Fijiana players.
